Mia Hamm (USA)
Voted by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics as the World’s Best Woman Player of the Century, Olympic and World Cup champion Mia Hamm has been heralded as one of the greatest role models the game has ever had, and the most marketable footballer of her generation. A pacey, agile and competent dribbler, Hamm holds the record for most assists for the U.S Women’s National Team. She also made it into the FIFA 100 - a list of the greatest living players compiled by Brazilian legend Pelé. In 1999, she founded the Mia Hamm Foundation, a non profit organisation dedicated to helping families in need of bone marrow or cord blood transplants.
