Reus and Aubameyang, Ribery and Robben, Müller and Hoeneß – the Bundesliga has seen many great striking partnerships over the decades. But there is one duo that stands out amongst them. Not only because of it’s proficiency in front of goal, but because it’s glory lasted for only one monumental, historic season that marked the end of an era.
In 2009, provincial club VfL Wolfsburg became the last team to win the Bundesliga before the unshakeable duopoly of Dortmund and Bayern that still lasts to this day. And it’s all thanks to Edin Džeko and Grafite.
