Why Wayne Rooney should be dropped from the England setup

On the weekend, Man United once again failed to impress going forward, with their captain Wayne Rooney typifying United's problems with a lacklustre performance up top. Rooney's serious lack of form domestically raises the issue of whether he should be leading the line for England or even be included in the squad, particularly with the Euros coming up this summer. It was quite poignant that Jamie Vardy broke the Premier League record for scoring in consecutive games and continued his incredible run of form against a toothless Manchester United led by Wayne Rooney. The performances of Vardy and Rooney couldn't have been more different; Vardy was relentless, hungry, focused and lethal in front of goal. Rooney was tired, sloppy and off-kilter with the rest of his teammates. Even though he is captain of both Man United and England, there is a strong case to drop Rooney before the Euros if he keeps up his underwhelming form. Should Rooney be dropped?
