Madrid's Got The Blues | Sick Kit Friday

As long as there are Fridays, there will be #SickKitFridays. Here are the sickest kits that dropped this week!

Sure, a trophy and bragging rights over your bitter rivals are cool, but Real Madrid’s real prize for winning La Liga and the Champions League this season is this amazing new kit for the 2017/18 season. Gone are the usual purple, black, or gold applications, replaced by a teal blue that nicely offsets the darker blue from the crest and is meant to represent the Madrid sky. It’s also deceptively not a plain white shirt, with a subtle diamond pattern cutting across the front.

But the real question is: will we see Ronaldo in this kit or not?

Guess who’s back, back again — Stuttgart’s back, tell a friend (who likes sick kits). Stuttgart’s return to the Bundesliga will be marked by a kit that evokes the memory of another celebratory event: their DFB Pokal (German Cup) win in the 1996/97 season. (Interestingly, their opponents in that final will also be wearing kits inspired by the match.)

From this inspiration comes the black applications, making their comeback for the first time in a long time, on top of the club’s traditional red and white.

PSG had their chance to prove that Paris is truly the “City Of Light,” but PSV are here to prove that they have their own Glow over in the Netherlands. The kit, which is predominantly a near-black grey, has highlighter yellow applications on the shoulders, the sponsor, and the crest inspired by the Eindhoven light festival ‘Glow.’

(And Eindhoven, like Paris, is also known as the 'City of Light' because the lighting company Philips was founded there.)

Another newly promoted club, ESTAC Troyes, will be taking to Ligue 1 in style.

Their shirt for the 2017/18 season will be a half-and-half in two different shades of blue — the royal blue on the right being ESTAC blue, the marine blue on the left representing Troyes’ first professional club — separated down the middle by a design inspired by the Champagne region’s coat of arms. The club is also interesting in that it features the crest front and center rather than over the left chest.
