Turkish Super Lig's Newest Strikers - Who Will Succeed?

This week, Poet & Vuj discuss the transfer dealings that have happened outside the top 4 European leagues. One of the main talking points is the comings and goings of the Turkish Super Lig, with high-profile ex-Premier League players signing for some of Turkey's biggest clubs. The three biggest signings are Lukas Podolski from Arsenal to Galatasaray, Robin van Persie from Manchester United to Fenerbahce, and Samuel Eto'o from Sampdoria to Antalyaspor. But who will be the biggest success?

Lukas Podolski

Earlier in the summer, Lukas Podolski validated the rumours that he was on his way to Galatasaray. Signing on for a transfer fee of just £2 million, Podolski represents a great buy for the Turkish champions. His lethal left foot and European experience will no doubt help Galatasaray in their quest to retain the title and advance in Europe.

Robin van Persie

Another ex-Arsenal striker, van Persie also opted to continue his career in Turkey and strengthen the Turkish Super Lig. His £3.8 million transfer fee is fantastic value for money for Fenerbache, who have bolstered their attacking line-up with Nani. Due to van Persie's play style, he should be able to contribute greatly for another few years, so expect Fenerbahce to push Galatasaray all the way this year.

Samuel Eto'o

The last ex-Premier League striker to be recruited into the Turkish Super Lig is ex-Chelsea's Samuel Eto'o. His experience throughout Europe will be essential for Antalyaspor, who signed him on a free transfer this summer. He has scored many goals domestically and Europe for Chelsea, Inter and most notably Barcelona, and so his prowess in front of goal will be invaluable.
