Football Beyond Borders is an incredible organisation based in Central London that brings together under privileged youths to help develop life skills. Their programmes encourage diversity, tolerance, and teamwork, and are all made possible by a team of remarkable young volunteers. Over the years, this organisation has grown from a small group of University students volunteering their time, to one of the world’s top sport and development organisations.
Last month, FBB caught the attention of Arsenal star and Spain International Santi Cazorla, who agreed to become the organisation’s newest patron. FBB teamed up with Café Football to host a night of fun with Santi, who made himself available to guests, signing kits, taking pictures, and generally sharing in some football banter.
In total, the night raised over £16,000 that will all be invested back into the FBB Schools programme to reach more young people from marginalised backgrounds across London and beyond. The night was emblematic of the power of football, as people from all backgrounds gathered to support their communities. This is why we love Football Beyond Borders; they always remind us how much this game can matter, and how good an effect football can have in the community.
In addition to their grass-roots work, FBB has been campaigning for a Living Wage in professional football.
