Manchester Combined XI
After a lot of deliberation over attackers (and very little over defenders) we have selected our combined Manchester XI ahead of the derby.
Goalkeeper
David De Gea
Manchester United's no.1 definitely deserves the spot on current form. While Van Gaal's side have stumbled through their first lot of games, the Spanish goalkeeper has kept them in it various times.
Defenders
Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala, Luke Shaw
I'm sure it'll come as no surprise that the majority of our defence comes from the blue side of Manchester. Zabaleta was a certainty along with Man City captain Vincent Kompany. Luke Shaw just nicked it on the left side. When it came to the second centre back the decision was basically picking the best of a bad bunch... Jones? Rojo? Mangala? Demichellis? Exactly. Mangala I guess then.
Midfielders
Angel Di Maria, Yaya Toure, David Silva
Not your most defensive midfield three, but then again, who is there to pick defensively?! (Looks like we're going to have to outscore opponents with this side.) Di Maria... the star of the United team had to be there. Silva's play on the ball makes him an obvious pick and even though Yaya Toure hasn't been in the greatest form this season, he has to be picked.
Attacking Midfielder
Wayne Rooney
See what we mean by this is and attacking team? Yeah. Wayne makes it into the side. Having that player in behind who can play and create something out of nothing the England forward slots in just behind the striker (just because we weren't sure the side was attacking enough...)
Strikers
Sergio Aguero, Radamel Falcao
Big competition for these spots. Incredibly this side doesn't include the attacking talents of RVP or Dzeko. But then again, how can you leave out Aguero or Falcao? You can't, and we haven't. We need goals if this team would have any chance of achieving anything considering our midfield couldn't be more attacking.
